Susan Henry

Voice and Authentic Expression Coach

Susan believes that to be effective as a speaker you need to be genuine. As Oscar Wilde whom she is fond of quoting said; “Be yourself, everybody else is already taken”. Experience has shown her there is no such thing as a “good voice” and a “bad voice” only a more trapped or free one. Using engaging and targeted techniques she enables her clients to connect more with their unique mode of expression and fully embody their messages. In so doing, whether highly experienced or new to public speaking,  they find themselves heard as they wish to be in all areas of life where effective communication is required.

Susan qualified in Voice Studies in 1993,  a few years later added a certificate in Drama Therapy, has had a dedicated mindfulness practice since 2004, is a qualified NLP practitioner and studied group relations and leadership at the Tavistock and Portman Foundation. Most recently in 2021 she graduated as a “Bring It” facilitator with Jamie Catto where she learnt about leading creatively from the edge.  Susan is trilingual in English, Italian and French and in a previous life she trained and worked as an actor and musician. She now draws on all these skills and disciplines in her work with professional speakers and is known for her inspirational, relaxed yet thorough approach and for getting results.

Clients include: Oxford University, Google, the BBC, British Airways, London Business School, Fierce Grace, PRS, London School of Economics, Reuters and the Kings Fund. She has also trained both professional actors and up and coming actors at the top London Drama Schools and held the role of Head of Voice at East 15 Acting School overseeing both the BA and MA graduate courses.  Some of Susans ideas about voice production can be read in the book “Effective Presentation” published by Orion and in her spare time she can still be heard stretching her own vocal cords singing jazz at events and venues around London.

“Sue really puts the energy back into how to make a presentation and present yourself. Having worked with her over the years, I’d say if you want something that’s not run of the mill and gets results, book her, now”                                                                             Sue Langley OBE – Executive Director North America and Market Development for Lloyd’s of London

“Sue is a beautiful, musical, inspirational guide. She is like a Pied Piper of wisdom and we should all follow wherever she leads”                                                                                             Jamie Catto – Film-maker, Musician, Facilitator, Co-founder of Faithless and One Giant Leap
